Frequently asked questions
Common questions about working with Q1.
Answers to the questions Q1 most commonly receives from organisations considering consulting, implementation or ongoing support.
About Q1
Q1 Software Solutions is a Business and Technology Consulting company. We help organisations understand their operational challenges, recommend and architect the right technology solution, build and implement that solution, and support it over the long term. Our service covers consulting, custom software development, ERP implementation, AI and automation, cloud infrastructure and managed support.
Q1's primary industries are healthcare, manufacturing and trading, banking and financial services, and financial advisory and wealth management. These are the sectors where Q1 has established products and verified implementations. Q1 also works in real estate, retail, professional services, education and logistics — and will be clear about the scope of experience in each sector at the time of engagement.
Q1 is not tied to a single platform or vendor. We use ERPNext and the Frappe framework for many implementations because it provides strong functionality at a lower licence cost than proprietary alternatives — but platform selection follows requirements analysis. Where ERPNext is not the right fit, Q1 recommends and builds using the appropriate technology.
Consulting
Consulting engagements typically begin with a business review — working sessions with business leaders and operational teams to understand current processes, constraints and goals. Q1 then produces tangible outputs: a gap analysis, functional requirements, a technology recommendation and an implementation roadmap. The outputs give the organisation the information it needs to make an informed decision about next steps.
No. The consulting engagement produces a roadmap and recommendations. Whether to proceed to implementation — and with Q1 or another provider — is entirely the organisation's decision. Q1 does not use the consulting phase to create commercial pressure to continue.
This depends on scope and organisational complexity. Most consulting engagements produce initial outputs within four to eight weeks. Q1 confirms scope and timeline at the start of the engagement.
Implementation
Q1 follows a structured implementation approach: requirements confirmation, system design and architecture, configuration and development, integration, testing, data migration, training, go-live and post-go-live support. Each stage produces documented outputs. Q1 does not begin development before requirements are confirmed and does not proceed to go-live before user acceptance testing is complete.
Implementation timelines vary with scope and complexity. A trading company ERP focused on purchasing, inventory and sales typically takes three to five months. A full manufacturing implementation including production planning and quality management typically takes five to nine months. Q1 provides a project plan with milestone dates at the start of implementation.
Data migration is planned and executed in stages: data audit and cleansing, transformation mapping, test migration with validation, sign-off, and production migration with a defined rollback procedure. Q1 treats data integrity as a prerequisite for go-live — production migration does not proceed until test migration results have been validated by the client team.
Support and maintenance
Q1's support arrangements cover incident response within defined windows, application updates and patch management, database maintenance, user query resolution, scheduled health checks and minor configuration changes within the annual allocation. Response time commitments are defined by incident severity. Details are confirmed in the support agreement before go-live.
Yes. Q1 provides managed cloud hosting for most systems it implements. Hosting includes server provisioning, security configuration, backup management, monitoring, patch management and performance tuning. Clients can also host on their own infrastructure where they have the internal capability to manage it.
Getting started
A discovery call is the right first step. It takes approximately 45 minutes. Q1 asks about your operations, current systems, constraints and goals — and gives you an honest assessment of whether and how Q1 can help. There is no obligation and no sales pitch.
There is no formal preparation required. It helps to be able to describe the operational challenge you are trying to address, the systems currently in use, the size of the team involved and any constraints on timing or budget. Q1 will ask questions to understand the situation — you do not need to arrive with a structured brief.
