Business & Technology Consulting

Move to the cloud with a plan, not just a direction.

Cloud and infrastructure advisory helps organisations evaluate cloud options, select appropriate hosting models and plan migrations with appropriate attention to performance, security, cost and operational continuity. Q1 provides independent guidance on cloud strategy — not tied to a single cloud provider.

When this service is relevant

This service is relevant when an organisation is considering moving workloads to the cloud, when existing cloud infrastructure is not performing as expected, when a new system implementation requires infrastructure decisions, or when cost, compliance or resilience requirements have changed.

Common symptoms and triggers

  • Existing on-premise infrastructure is approaching end of life
  • A new application requires hosting infrastructure decisions
  • Cloud costs have grown without a clear understanding of what is driving them
  • Security or compliance requirements have changed and the current infrastructure may not satisfy them
  • The organisation has multiple cloud environments with no coherent governance

What Q1 examines

Q1 examines the workloads and systems that need hosting, their performance and availability requirements, their data sensitivity and compliance obligations, the organisation's current infrastructure and its limitations, and the cost and capability of cloud options available.

Approach and activities

Workload assessment and cloud readiness evaluation. Cloud model selection — public, private, hybrid or managed cloud. Provider evaluation against requirements. Migration approach and sequencing. Security and compliance architecture. Cost modelling and optimisation recommendations.

Frequently asked questions

Engagement duration varies depending on the size and complexity of your organisation. Q1 will confirm a clear scope and timeline at the start of the engagement. Most consulting engagements produce initial outputs within four to eight weeks.
Not necessarily. Consulting produces recommendations and a roadmap. Whether to proceed to implementation — and at what pace — is a decision for your leadership team. Q1 does not use the consulting phase to create an obligation to purchase additional services.
This depends on the scope. Typically Q1 works with a business owner or senior leader, a representative from the relevant operational team and, where systems are involved, an IT or systems contact. Q1 structures sessions to minimise disruption to your team's day-to-day work.
